Tansu Kırcı - Artist

Tansu Kırcı (b. 1992, İzmit, Turkey) holds a BFA in Sculpture from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Bodrum Faculty of Fine Arts, and an MFA in Sculpture from Marmara University Institute of Fine Arts.
 

In his practice, Kırcı approaches stone as both material and carrier of memory, referencing the historical and cultural layers of the geographies he inhabits. Drawing from his experience of the 1999 İzmit earthquake, he transforms discarded marble blocks sourced from quarries into architectural fragments, using these structural forms to investigate the relationships between memory, process, and consciousness.
 

His work has been presented in group exhibitions at institutions including Elgiz Museum, Art On İstanbul, and Artopol, and at prominent platforms such as Contemporary Istanbul, Artweeks İstanbul, and BASE. In 2021, he received the Yeniköy Rotary 10th Anniversary Special Award.
